2 Quakes Hit North; at Least 4 Are Killed

Two strong earthquakes shook northern China, killing at least four people and seriously injuring eight others, the government said.
The quakes in Gansu province had magnitudes of 6.1 and 5.8, the official New China News Agency reported. It said 17 other people suffered minor injuries.
The epicenters were about 310 miles northwest of Lanzhou, capital of Gansu, the agency said. In one village, Yaozhaizi, 90% of the buildings collapsed.
