Supervisors OK Another Year for Interim CEO
From Times Staff Reports
James D. Ruth, Orange County’s interim chief executive since Feb. 4, will hold the job for at least another year. Supervisors Tuesday unanimously approved his new contract through 2004 at $200,000 a year.
Ruth said he will focus on reorganizing government for greater efficiency and oversight, dealing with state budget cuts and renegotiating 12 labor agreements that expire June 24.
Supervisors said Ruth brings continuity and stability to the job despite his short tenure.
