New York Met rookie shortstop Jose Reyes will sit out the rest of the season because of a sprained left ankle.

“He’s done,” Met Manager Art Howe said before Friday’s game against Philadelphia.

Reyes, considered one of the rising stars of a rebuilding Met team, was injured Sunday trying to break up a game-ending double play in a 4-1 loss to Philadelphia. He had X-rays Sunday and Monday, and no fractures were evident.

“We’re very pleased with the way he performed for us,” Howe said

Reyes made his major league debut on June 10, a day before his 20th birthday. He batted .307 with five homers, 32 runs batted in and 13 steals.
