RECALL Q

Share

I just received my sample ballot, and it looks like there are more than 135 candidates on it. Are there more people running?

There are 135 candidates who will appear on the Oct. 7 recall ballot. But because counties use different voting systems, the way your sample ballot looks will depend on the county in which you live. The ballot in Los Angeles, San Diego and other counties that use a punch-card system lists the name of the candidate next to a number. That number corresponds to the punch-hole on the official ballot card, so some numbers are skipped. In Los Angeles, for example, the last candidate on the list is No. 179 -- not 135. Voters can use the number on the sample ballot to double-check that they have punched the correct hole.
