Democrats Spar Over Replacing Bush

Share

Re “Democrats Fire Away on War, Mideast,” Sept. 10: You got it right at last: Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio) received loud applause for saying, “I say what we need to do is ... bring the U.N. in and get the U.S. out” of Iraq. Kucinich has been getting louder cheers than most other candidates in the debates, and pretty soon people will know about him. Soon former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean will be overshadowed by the true peace candidate, Kucinich.

“Imagine” our nation at peace. It’s easy if you try.

After watching the Democratic presidential debate Tuesday night, I can only ask, “Is this the best they can do?” All I heard was a constant bashing of President Bush, our nation’s policies and even each other. They seem to conveniently forget the successes we’ve had in our war on terrorism and focus only on what hasn’t been accomplished yet. It is clear that they will say anything in their hopes of getting elected president.

I would expect more class and dignity from those seeking the highest office in the country. What they really did was confirm my decision to vote for Bush again.

Some people say Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) is a bit aloof, stiff and not real warm with the people. Hey, it got Al Gore the most votes.
