Man Convicted in Mauling Out on Parole
Robert Noel, convicted of involuntary manslaughter in the dog-mauling death of a San Francisco neighbor, has been released on parole.
Noel was picked up by parole agents before sunrise Sunday at the High Desert State Prison in Susanville and driven to his parole site, said Russ Heimerich, a spokesman for the state Department of Corrections.
Noel had been expected to be released Friday, but his release was delayed until Sunday.
Noel and his wife, Marjorie Knoller, were convicted in March 2002. Diane Whipple, 33, was attacked in the hallway of their apartment building by the couple’s two Presa Canarios. Both were sentenced to four years in prison.
Noel reduced his time by working in prison and staying out of trouble, officials said. Knoller is expected to be released in March.
