Man, Woman Found Dead After Shootout With Deputies

A 60-year-old woman and a 45-year-old man were found shot to death after engaging in a gun battle with San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputies Thursday, authorities said.

The deputies were executing a search warrant seeking stolen property and drugs at a home in Lucerne Valley. The woman allegedly fired several shots when deputies arrived.

The man was shot and collapsed on his front porch. The woman was shot but retreated inside the home, deputies said. About 10 minutes later, a single gunshot was heard inside the home. A coroner’s examination will determine if the woman died from a self-inflicted shot or from deputies’ gunfire. Neither of the suspects’ names were released.
