SAG, AFTRA to Meet on Commercial Contract

Directors of the Screen Actors Guild and its sister union, the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, meet this week and are expected to detail the specifics of the tentative contract announced last week.

Actors and advertisers agreed Wednesday to a tentative three-year deal governing commercials, heading off a rerun of frictions that three years ago led to Hollywood’s longest strike.

Members of the unions still must ratify the deal, with a vote likely by late October.

Sources said the agreement involved an increase in pay along with higher health plan contributions, one of the chief concerns of members amid soaring health-care costs.
