‘Stones’ is put on hiatus by CBS

“The Stones” has hit the road. The CBS sitcom, which was originally targeted for the fall but premiered March 17, has been put on hiatus, the network announced Tuesday. Given that it finished in 62nd place last week, the hiatus is likely to be permanent.

Robert Klein and Judith Light starred in the sitcom about a long-married couple headed for divorce who nonetheless ended up sharing the family home with their grown children. It was produced by the people behind NBC’s hit comedy “Will & Grace.”

This is the second midseason show CBS has canceled in the last two weeks. The futuristic lawyer series “Century City” got the ax last week after failing to gain traction with audiences. It aired just four times.
