MTV Awards head to Miami

MTV will take its irreverent Video Music Awards to Miami this year. The event, in its 21st year, will be Aug. 29 at the American Airlines Arena.
The awards show is usually held in New York City and occasionally in Los Angeles. But because the Republican National Convention is scheduled for Aug. 30 to Sept. 2, having the VMAs around the same time in New York would have been difficult, said the awards’ executive producer, Salli Frattini.
