Just finished reading Mike Penner’s annual promotion of soccer in the United States. Mike won’t rest until all the baseball fans in America emulate his passion for soccer and drive around with a trunk full of soccer balls.
Mike, please don’t compare the American public’s adulation of a 14-year-old soccer player to the fanatic/compulsive soccer fever that exists in England.
Freddymania is not the cure-all for Major League Soccer, and the sport will never replace the nation’s pastime.
