Bush Plans to Boost Peacekeeping Training

President Bush plans to launch an international initiative to help train and equip foreign troops for peacekeeping missions around the world, administration officials said.
The five-year, $660-million Global Peace Operations Initiative could help relieve some of the pressure on U.S. forces stretched thin by deployments in Iraq and elsewhere. The campaign will focus first on Africa by bolstering an existing program to train 10 battalions per year.
