Stel Corona Tries to Surpass $100,000 Mark

Share

Stel Corona, who was second to stablemate Be Real Quick in last month’s Ocean View Handicap, will try to end a losing streak at five in tonight’s seventh race, a $14,150 allowance at 350 yards.

Trained by Paul Jones for John Sperry, Stel Corona, a 4-year-old son of Corona Cartel, had consecutive victories last fall in the PCQHRA and Sooner Trailer derbies. A victory would put him over $100,000 in career earnings.

Jones will also send out Pals Eyes, who has been in the top three in his last four starts, while Drop Your Sox figures to improve for owner-trainer Laura Pinelli as he makes his second start after a layoff. Drop Your Sox has 11 career victories
