Tens of Thousands Protest Gaza Exit Plan

Tens of thousands of Israelis rallied in the Gaza Strip’s Gush Katif settlement bloc to protest Prime Minister Ariel Sharon’s plan to abandon Jewish enclaves in the Gaza Strip.
The surprisingly high turnout of more than 50,000 flag-waving Israelis stirred hopes among settlers of defeating the right-wing Likud Party’s referendum Sunday on Sharon’s plan.
