Backhoe Falls on School Bus, Killing at Least 23
From Times Wire Reports
A backhoe tumbled down a steep hillside and landed on a school bus, killing at least 21 elementary school students and two adults, officials said.
A crew was towing the large earthmover when it rolled off a ledge and plunged 70 feet before crushing the bus on the highway below, said Claudia Cubillos, a spokeswoman for the Bogota Health Ministry.
The bus was taking the 7- to 12-year-old students from the Agustiniano school to their homes in the Colombian capital’s middle-class Suba district.
