House OKs Temporary Transit Funding
From Times Wire Reports
The House voted to extend stopgap highway and transit construction programs for another two months amid election-year wrangling with the White House over how much to increase funding.
With existing temporary funding for surface transportation programs due to expire Friday, members voted 410 to 0 to extend funds until June 30, hoping to reach a compromise with the Senate and President Bush.
The measure must be approved by the Senate, which is likely to vote on extending funding this week.
