Euro Disney Loss Widens, Revenue Rises

From Associated Press

Losses widened by almost a third at Euro Disney despite higher theme park revenue in the first half of its fiscal year. The company attributed much of the decline to accounting changes, and said it was working to stabilize its finances ahead of a key deadline next month.

The losses piled up amid a 5.6% increase in revenue from the Disneyland and Walt Disney Studios parks outside Paris, while overall revenue was little changed at $561 million.

A resumption of full royalty payments after the expiration of a waiver granted by Walt Disney Co., its Burbank-based parent, also weighed heavily on the bottom line, Euro Disney said.
