From Times Wire Reports

Unidentified militants shot dead two people and threw firebombs in the latest violence to hit Muslim-dominated southern Thailand, officials said.

Authorities fear that a revived separatist movement has taken root in the provinces of Yala, Narathiwat and Pattani, where Muslims have long complained about unfair treatment by mostly Buddhist Thailand’s central government.

Thai authorities arrested two unidentified suspects -- a religious school teacher and a student at a traditional Islamic school -- after half a dozen attacks, officials said.
