Tax Teachers Fairly

Share

Michael Klein’s Aug. 21 letter in response to teachers losing their tax break is uninformed and derisive. As an educator, I do not consider myself a “poor, underpaid teacher,” even though my salary pales in comparison with those in other professions with less than my academic credentials. Teachers spend an extraordinary amount of money on supplies that will foster an environment of curiosity and passion about learning, not expecting reimbursement; yet businesses can deduct any personal expenses that are associated as business costs. Now that’s something to ponder.
