$341 Seat Belt Fine

Share

Thank you for alerting readers to changes in the state vehicle code (Behind the Wheel, Nov. 30). Motorists might also want to be more aware that, according to the driver’s handbook with the relatively new seat belt laws, one can be cited for riding with the shoulder belt fastened but tucked under the arm. The fine: $341. This happened to me; I was pulled off the 10 Freeway near downtown L.A. and cited (it was my teenage son who was “improperly restrained”) and my appeal was rejected.
