Another Rainy Sunday Likely, Forecasters Say
There’s a pretty good chance of rain again Sunday in the coastal valleys of Southern California, making it the third cold, wet weekend in a row, the National Weather Service said.
Forecasters expect about half an inch of rain in the Los Angeles Basin, with 6 to 10 inches of snow above 5,000 feet in the San Gabriel, San Bernardino and San Jacinto mountains.
They said the snow level could drop to 4,000 feet Sunday night, low enough to snarl traffic on Interstate 5 in the Tejon Pass near Gorman.
Skies will partially clear Monday, but there’s a chance of more light rain and snow Tuesday, the weather service said.
A total of 4.76 inches of rain has fallen on downtown Los Angeles since Oct. 1, making this one of the wettest falls in decades. Normally, the season’s total by Dec. 4 is about 2 inches.
Long-term forecasts call for slightly wetter than normal weather in the spring.
