It Pays to Do Some Research

Bettors who like to wager on races at Aqueduct’s inner track should pay close attention to horses who have run well over the surface.

One such horse is Saintliness, who will make her first start since March 21 in today’s eighth race at the track in Ozone Park, N.Y.

Trained by Kiaran McLaughlin, the 4-year-old Holy Bull filly went two for two on the inner track earlier this year and has trained well for her comeback.

After breaking her maiden at 13-10 in her debut Jan. 24, the gray came right back and beat winners at 4-1 on Feb. 20, then stretched out to 1 1/8 miles -- on Aqueduct’s main track -- and won again by nearly three lengths in her last race.

Race of the day: Run Rebecca Run, who impressed in her comeback victory Nov. 11, will try for her third win in four starts at Hollywood Park in today’s seventh.

Rene Douglas will ride the 4-year-old Swiss Yodeler filly for trainer Bob Baffert against four opponents in the $40,000 optional claimer at six furlongs.

One for the road: Hibernate drops in class and joins the barn of high-percentage trainer Bubba Cascio in today’s first at the Fair Grounds. James Graham will ride the 3-year-old Real Quiet gelding in the $10,000 claimer at 1 1/16 miles. Hibernate is returning to dirt after three consecutive races on grass and his only win came on the main at Oaklawn Park earlier this year.

Exotically speaking: A pick four using Apple Juice Tea and Bit Of Folly in the fifth, Hidden Beauty, Dubai Dolly and Bell Of The Year in the sixth, Run Rebecca Run and Mazella in the seventh and the Funny Copy entry, Generals Wardancer and Sweet Meg in the eighth.

Winners: Previous day/meet total: 2/70. Money: Previous day/meet total: $7/$395. Total money bet: $444.
