Cornerback Troy Vincent of the Buffalo Bills could play for the first time in more than two months Sunday against the Cleveland Browns.

Vincent tore cartilage in his right knee in the third game of the season. He underwent surgery and sat out nine games.

He practiced this week, and Coach Mike Mularkey was optimistic about the possibility of his playing against the Browns.

Tennessee Titan quarterback Steve McNair sat out another practice because of a bruised sternum and didn’t try to throw even though Coach Jeff Fisher said the injury is healing.

Backup Billy Volek once again took all the work with the first-team offense and will probably make his fifth start this season.

Fisher said McNair, listed as questionable on the injury report, will be a “game-time decision” before Monday night’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs.

The NFL fined Washington Redskin running back Clinton Portis $5,000 for wearing red socks last weekend, violating the league’s uniform rules. He wore red instead of the team’s usual white in Sunday’s 31-7 victory over the New York Giants.

Rookie safety Sean Taylor, Portis’ good friend, also wore red socks and also was fined $5,000.
