Rock ‘n’ roll legend Mick Jagger won a Golden Globe nomination Monday for a song he penned for another well-known lothario -- “Alfie.”
“Old Habits Die Hard,” which Jagger co-wrote with Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics, earned a best original song nomination. In all, the pair created four songs for the soundtrack to the movie remake.
Jagger, in a telephone interview from London on Monday, said that movies present different challenges: to maximize the effectiveness of the footage and create a good tune.
“I try to look at the visual and get inspired by a character or scene,” he said. “In the end, you’re enhancing a scene rather than writing a narrative.”
Jagger kept his hopes in check before the nominations but said he’s “excited” about making the cut: “Albums, shows with the Stones, movies ... that’s a nice balance for me. I produced ‘Enigma’ a while back -- and would love to do another.”
