Woman Buys ‘Diamond’ in Parking Lot Scam
From Times Staff Reports
Police are searching for two con artists who swindled $5,500 from a 63-year-old woman, Buena Park officials said.
Police said the victim was approached in a parking lot at Valley View Street and Lincoln Avenue Dec. 3 by two men who said they were selling diamonds. The woman agreed and went to a bank to withdraw money, police said.
Both men fled after the woman gave them the money and received one stone, which turned out to be cubic zirconia, police said.
