Prospects Are Good

A look at the two prospects the Dodgers would acquire from the Yankees in the reported three-team deal with Arizona:

* Eric Duncan, 3b -- A first-round draft choice in the 2003 draft out of Seton Hall Prep in New Jersey. After the 2003 season, Duncan was voted by league managers as the best major league prospect in the Gulf Coast League, and Baseball America ranks him as the No. 2 prospect in the Yankees’ farm system. He is a left-handed hitter, will be 20 when the season starts and is 6-3, 212 pounds. In two minor league seasons, he has hit .273 with 20 homers in 700 at-bats and has a .359 on-base percentage.

* Dioner Navarro, c -- He was nicknamed “Pudgito” in the Yankees’ minor league system because he plays like a smaller version of Ivan Rodriguez. Navarro (5-10, 190) is small for a catcher but was named the Yankees’ No. 1 prospect by Baseball America in part for his prowess on defense. In four minor league seasons, Navarro is hitting .277 with a .402 on-base percentage. He has hit 21 homers in 1,269 at-bats. He went three for seven in five games for the Yankees last season.
