Undersea Earthquake Is Strongest in 3 Years

From Times Wire Reports

The world’s strongest earthquake in three years rocked a remote stretch of ocean floor between Australia and Antarctica, shaking buildings hundreds of miles away in Australia’s southern island state of Tasmania, seismologists said.

No one was injured and buildings were in no danger of collapsing because the 8.1-magnitude quake struck so far away, they said.

“If it happened underneath a population center in Australia, this would probably have destroyed a whole city,” said Cvetan Sinadinovski of the government agency Geoscience Australia.
