Police I.D. Man Killed by Officers Near Store
From Times Staff and Wire Reports
Police on Thursday identified a man shot to death by officers as Brian Charles Smith, 35, of Placentia.
Police began receiving calls at 5 p.m. about a man “acting strangely” at a convenience store on Orangethorpe Avenue, said Det. Corinne Loomis.
Loomis said officers attempted to subdue Smith with a Taser, but he remained combative and was shot about 5:15 p.m. in the 100 block of El Camino Lane.
Loomis said toxicology tests to determine whether drugs were involved are pending.
