Holiday closings
Friday is New Year’s Eve and Saturday is New Year’s Day. The following schedule will be in effect Friday and Saturday:
* Mail: Operations on Friday will not be affected. On Saturday, there will be no mail delivery, and post offices will be closed.
* Schools: Public schools will be closed both days.
* Public transportation: On Friday, Metrolink’s Antelope Valley and San Bernardino lines will operate on their Saturday schedules and all other lines will be shut down. MTA buses will run Friday on their regular schedules. On Saturday, Metrolink trains will run on a special schedule; information: (800) 371-LINK. MTA buses will run Saturday on their Sunday schedules.
* Libraries: Check with your local branch for hours on Friday. Most libraries will be closed Saturday.
* Banks: Many banking institutions will have shortened hours Friday; check with your local branch. Most banks will be closed Saturday.
* Trash collection: Regular schedules will be in effect both days.
* Government: Many city offices also will be closed Friday; check with your city hall. City, county and federal offices and courts will be closed Saturday.
