Trainer Jones Is Doubling His Chances

There is a pick six carry-over of $25,620 tonight -- two of the races in the sequence are for Arabians, the other four for quarter horses beginning with a $2,500 claimer at 350 yards.

In the main event, a $16,915 allowance for older fillies and mares at 350 yards, trainer Paul Jones will saddle Hi Patriot and Shakem Cash.

Hi Patriot, a California-bred daughter of Jazzing Hi, has been first, second or third in four of six starts and will break from the rail under jockey Joe Badilla Jr.

Shakem Cash, a 4-year-old Royal Shak Em miss, has won two in a row after losing the first eight starts of her career. She beat maidens by a nose on Dec. 26, then returned less than two weeks later to win by 1 1/4 lengths as the 3-2 favorite. Ramon Sanchez will ride.
