It Could Be Another Day at Buccaneer Beach

Buccaneer Beach, who was third in the Champion of Champions, is among 17 older horses who will compete in two trials hoping to qualify for the upcoming Los Alamitos Winter Championship. The 10 fastest qualifiers will advance to the $200,000 final on Feb. 28.

Trained by Jesus Nunez for owner Jose Santos, Buccaneer Beach, who also won the PCQRA Stakes on Nov. 1, will compete in the first of the 400-yard trials.

Four! Swiss Count and A Pizza For Nick in the first, A New Hero in the second, Final Answer, Fasten and Varixa in the third and Spectacular Chance, Maxian, Majesterical and Millennium Song in the fourth.

Shots in the dark: Rosie My Buddie could get the right trip behind a quick pace in the sixth. Mount Suribachi is better than his last would indicate and could rebound in the seventh.
