Mendiola Helps Huskies Get Past Trojans, 72-70

Giuliana Mendiola scored a game-high 29 points to help Washington defeat USC, 72-70, in a Pacific 10 Conference game Saturday at Seattle.
Andrea Lalum’s three-point basket tied the score at 67-67 with just under two minutes to play. On Washington’s next possession, Mendiola made a three-pointer to give the Huskies the lead for good. Washington improved to 13-9 overall and 6-7 in the conference
A three-point attempt by USC’s Jessica Cheeks at the final buzzer bounced off the rim. The Trojans (12-9, 9-4) had won four of five.
UCLA 78, Washington State 57 -- Noelle Quinn scored a game-high 21 points and had seven rebounds to lead the Bruins (12-10, 7-6) past the Cougars (5-17, 1-12) at Pullman, Wash.
