Aftershocks Continue After December’s Quake
From Times Staff and Wire Reports.
The 3,334th aftershock of December’s San Simeon earthquake occurred Thursday 12 miles southwest of Paso Robles, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.
Scientist David Oppenheimer said that about half of the aftershocks had occurred in the week after the 6.5 quake, and that the weekly number had been decreasing. Thursday’s measured 3.7.
Given the original earthquake’s size, the number of aftershocks has been normal, the agency said.
