It Takes Four Overtimes for TCU to Win

No. 22-ranked Texas Christian withstood 40-point, 21-rebound performance by Courtney Willis to defeat East Carolina, 125-119, in four overtimes Friday night in a Conference USA game at Greenville, N.C.

Willis sent the game into the first overtime at 83-83, making two foul shots with 31 seconds left in regulation.

In the third overtime, her free throw with 21 seconds left tied the score at 112.

Tracy Wynn put TCU (19-4, 8-2) ahead for good, making a three-point basket with 1:43 left in the fourth overtime period for a 120-117 lead. She later made two free throws.

East Carolina (14-9, 5-5) has lost five games in succession.

No. 13 DePaul 73, Saint Louis 65 -- Khara Smith scored 32 points on 14-of-16 shooting to lead the Blue Demons (21-2, 9-1 Conference USA) at Chic- ago.

DePaul, which forced 24 turnovers, made seven of eight free throws down the stretch to secure the win. Angie Lewis had 28 points for Saint Louis (8-16, 2-9).

Drake 73, No. 23 Southwest Missouri State 67 -- The Bulldogs (9-12, 6-6 Missouri Valley Conference) rallied from a 16-point deficit at Des Moines, Iowa, to end the nation’s long- est winning streak at 18 games.

Southwest Missouri State (20-2, 11-1) scored 26 points in the second half after leading, 41-32, at halftime.

No. 25 Houston 62, Charlotte 58 -- The Cougars (20-3, 9-1 Conference USA) increased their winning streak to five games by getting past the 49ers (14-9, 7-3) at Charlotte, N.C.

Guard Lindsay Whalen of No. 10 Minnesota, the school’s all-time leading scorer, won’t play at least four weeks after breaking two bones in her right hand during Thursday night’s 75-57 loss at Ohio State.

Whalen has 2,186 points, fifth-best in Big Ten history.
