Quinn Leads UCLA, 73-64

Guard Noelle Quinn scored 24 points, setting a UCLA freshman record with five consecutive games with 20 points or more, to lead the Bruins to a 73-64 victory over Arizona State in a Pacific 10 Conference game Saturday in front of 2,327 in Pauley Pavilion.

Quinn, the former Bishop Montgomery High star who scored a career-high 31 points in the Bruins’ 87-68 victory over Arizona Thursday night, made six of 12 shots and made all 12 of her free throw attempts to extended her streak to 30. Quinn has scored in double figures in 15 consecutive games. With two more free throws, she will tie the Bruins’ season record of 32 in a row, set last season by Michelle Greco.

UCLA (14-10, 9-6), which made its first 26 free throws and 31 of 34 overall, extended its winning streak to five.

Quinn scored six points during a 13-2 run that gave the Bruins their biggest lead of the first half, 28-19. They had a 38-30 halftime lead that was extended to as many as 16 points at 54-38 on a layup by Lisa Willis with 13 minutes 3 seconds to play.

Arizona State (15-8, 9-5) had four players score in double figures, led by Kylan Loney at 16 points

No. 9 Kansas State 89, Nebraska 69 -- The Wildcats (19-3, 10-1 Big 12) extended their winning streak to six by easily defeating the Cornhuskers (16-7, 6-6) at Manhattan, Kan.

No. 11 Stanford 61, California 53 -- The Cardinal (18-5, 11-3) beat the Golden Bears (9-14, 2-12) for the 21st time in 26 games at Palo Alto and took a half a game lead over Arizona in the Pac-10.

Iowa State 81, No. 18 Baylor 72 -- The Cyclones (11-11, 4-7 Big 12) recovered from a six-minute scoring drought midway through the second half and went on a 16-2 run to beat the Bears (18-6, 6-5) at Ames, Iowa.

Miami 65, No. 21 Virginia Tech 56 -- The Hurricanes (18-4, 7-4 Big East) closed the game at Blacksburg, Va., with an 8-0 run to get past the Hokies (17-6, 6-6).
