Jones Tries to Corner Market in the Madeira

Trainer Paul Jones will send out four of the seven starters in tonight’s $18,000 Madeira Beach Handicap at 300 yards.

Jones, who had a record-setting year in 2003, will saddle Willie Gotta Pie, Farm City Rip, Brava Brava and Feet Of Flames.

Feet Of Flames is the most accomplished. The 3-year-old Corona Cartel filly has won two of 11 and earned more than $32,000.

She was a troubled fourth in her last start Jan. 16 as the 6-5 favorite and could make amends tonight. She has the outside post and will be ridden by Joe Badilla Jr.

Shots in the dark: Estrella La Jolla is a debuting Streakin La Jolla filly for trainer Jesus Enriquez in the fifth. A Strawfly Belle steps up a notch in the seventh after having been claimed by trainer Jesus Nunez.
