Several dozen windows were knocked out when lightning struck a pine tree in South Pasadena on Friday afternoon as a prelude to what forecasters said could be a week of rainy, blustery weather.

South Pasadena Police Officer Anthony Abdalla said no one was hurt when the tree near Mission Street and Grand Avenue was hit about 4 p.m. The strike was one of scores reported during the afternoon as a storm cell moved slowly across the Los Angeles metropolitan area.

The National Weather Service warned of possible flash floods this afternoon, tonight and Sunday on slopes denuded in last fall’s wildfires as a series of blustery Pacific storms invades Southern California. Forecasters said the rain should continue, off and on, through most of next week.
