From Bloomberg News

EarthLink Inc. said it was cutting about 1,300 jobs, almost 40% of its workforce, as it closes call centers in California and Pennsylvania and reduces staff in Atlanta.

The company will close offices in Pasadena, San Jose and Roseville, Calif., and in Harrisburg, Pa., according to a statement. Customer-support functions will be handled in Atlanta, where EarthLink is based.

EarthLink has been losing subscribers to its regular service as customers switch to faster broadband service offered by cable TV and phone companies.
