If You Can’t Say Something Nice ...

Now for something completely different: a letter about USC basketball. It is time for someone to say it -- Henry Bibby is a rotten coach.

His teams routinely under-perform. He confuses discipline with just plain meanness. He regularly insults his players in the press and seems incapable of taking any responsibility for his teams’ weaknesses.

Of all the progress Mike Garrett’s athletic teams have made at USC, it seems to me that the basketball team could do better than relentless mediocrity. Let the football team lead the way: It’s time to put USC basketball on the map. The first step is to dump Bibby.
