Deadly Rest Home Fire Is Ruled an Accident
A fire that killed three people and injured 12 others at a Maryville retirement home was traced to a bedroom electrical outlet, and state fire marshals ruled the blaze an accident.
An official said an appliance was plugged into the outlet, but fire damage made it unclear what kind. Investigators also could not tell whether the appliance or the wiring had caused the blaze at the Home Away From Home Inc. facility.
Three victims were in critical condition Thursday; three others were in stable condition at a Nashville hospital.
