No. 6 Stanford (15-2, 8-0) at USC (9-7, 6-2), 2 p.m., Sports Arena, KMPC (1540) -- Last season the Trojans scored their biggest win when they upset the then fifth-ranked Cardinal at the Sports Arena. But that win was more about pride; this year the stakes are a little different. “If we can win this game we can take a shot at winning the [Pacific 10] conference,” USC Coach Chris Gobrecht said. “If not, we’re probably playing for second or third.” The Trojans are alone in third after defeating California on Friday. Stanford already avoided an upset this trip by holding off UCLA in overtime for its eighth consecutive victory. Cardinal forward Nicole Powell, the conference’s leading scorer and rebounder, had 27 points and 14 rebounds against the Bruins.

California (9-8, 2-6) at UCLA (8-9, 3-5), 2, Pauley Pavilion, KIIS (850), XTRA (690/1150) -- Both teams are in need of a victory. UCLA has lost three in a row, including Friday’s 78-71 decision to Pac-10 front-runner Stanford in overtime. California has lost four in a row, including Friday’s loss to USC, 67-47. It’s understandable the Bears’ minds were elsewhere on Friday; the team is grieving for teammate Alisa Lewis, 20, who died Monday after contracting bacterial meningitis.
