Brandon Mouton made a three-point shot at the buzzer to force overtime, and Royal Ivey provided two free throws with 17 seconds left in the extra period to lift No. 16-ranked Texas over No. 13 Texas Tech, 62-61, Monday in a Big 12 Conference men’s basketball game at Lubbock, Texas.

Mouton made his 22-foot shot off a cross-court inbounds pass with 2.6 seconds left and tied the score, at 55-55. Texas Tech Coach Bob Knight said he took the “whole responsibility” for giving up Mouton’s shot.

“They made a terrific play,” Knight said. “But I’m at fault for not calling a timeout.... I took one, but I should have taken another one, but I liked our setup and the kid hit a great shot.”
