Driver Rams Through Airport Security Gate

From Times Staff and Wire Reports

A man crashed his car through a security gate at Fresno Yosemite International Airport and roamed freely in a secure area before being arrested, airport officials said.

James Walker Gregory Jr., 51, said he was just looking for the baggage claim area at 3:35 a.m. Thursday when he rammed through a chain-link gate southeast of the main terminal building.

A federal Transportation Safety Administration official saw Gregory and reported him to airport police. The police report said Gregory cooperated once he was arrested, and acknowledged that he drove through the gate “on purpose.”
