Texas Stops Boston, 6-5

Alfonso Soriano hit a home run and a tiebreaking sacrifice fly in the eighth inning Sunday to lead the Texas Rangers to a 6-5 victory over Boston at Fenway Park, ending the five-game Red Sox winning streak. Kevin Mench and Mark Teixeira also homered for the Rangers, who enter the All-Star break leading the West Division for the first time since 1999.

Chicago 4, Seattle 3 -- Freddy Garcia (6-8) struck out seven in 6 2/3 innings against his former team, Jose Valentin hit a two-run homer and the host White Sox handed the Mariners their ninth consecutive loss. The White Sox overtook Minnesota for the Central Division lead.

Detroit 2, Minnesota 0 -- Jason Johnson (7-7) pitched a five-hitter and struck out 11 to lead the Tigers at Minneapolis. Eric Munson hit a two-run homer off Johan Santana (7-6), who struck out 11 and yielded two hits in eight innings.

Cleveland 4, Oakland 1 -- Cliff Lee (9-1) outpitched Barry Zito (4-7), and Coco Crisp homered and drove in two runs to lead the Indians. Lee gave up one run and six hits in seven innings to improve to 6-0 in nine starts at Jacobs Field.

New York 10, Tampa Bay 3 -- Orlando Hernandez, starting in place of an ailing Mike Mussina, held the Devil Rays to two runs and five hits over five innings at Yankee Stadium in his first major league appearance since 2002.

Kansas City 11, Baltimore 7 -- Mike Sweeney was four for six with two homers and three runs batted in for the Royals, who scored 20 runs in winning two of three at Baltimore.

Before this series, Kansas City had suffered three consecutive shutout losses.
