Free Parking
Re: “Free Hybrid Parking Proposed,” July 9: Mayor James K. Hahn’s dim vision is surpassed only by his even dimmer idea of having fun, which is not having to fish around for quarters at parking meters. Clearly, he has yet to learn that the real culprit of pollution is the stop-and-go traffic on our freeways, not the kind of car we drive.
His proposal is nothing but blatant discrimination for the privileged few. If the city is going to give free parking to anyone, how about giving it to the low-income workers who cannot afford to fish around for quarters, let alone buy a new hybrid car.
