The Defense Department last week also identified the following American military personnel killed in Afghanistan and Iraq:

Collier E. Barcus, 21, of McHenry, Ill.; private first class, Army. Barcus was among five soldiers killed July 8 when the Iraqi National Guard headquarters in Baghdad came under a mortar attack. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division in Schweinfurt, Germany.

Robert E. Colvill Jr., 31, of Anderson, Ind.; sergeant, Army. Colvill was among five soldiers killed July 8 when the Iraqi National Guard headquarters in Baghdad came under a mortar attack. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division in Schweinfurt, Germany.

Shawn M. Davies, 22, of Aliquippa, Pa.; specialist, Army. Davies died of a noncombat- related illness July 8 in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 4th Battalion, 5th Air Defense Artillery, 1st Cavalry Division Regiment at Ft. Hood, Texas.

Jeremy J. Fischer, 26, of Lincoln, Neb.; sergeant, Army National Guard. Fischer was one of two soldiers killed July 11 when an improvised explosive device detonated near their convoy vehicle in Samarra, Iraq. He was assigned to the 267th Ordnance Company, Army National Guard in Lincoln, Neb.

Joseph M. Garmback Jr., 24, of Cleveland; specialist, Army. Garmback was among five soldiers killed July 8 when the Iraqi National Guard headquarters in Baghdad came under a mortar attack. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division in Schweinfurt, Germany.

Torry D. Harris, 21, of Chicago; private first class, Army. Harris died of noncombat-related injuries Tuesday in Tikrit, Iraq. He was assigned to the 12th Chemical Company in Kitzingen, Germany.

Terry Holmes, 22, of Hollywood, Fla.; corporal, Marine Corps. Holmes was among four Marines killed July 10 in a noncombat-related vehicle accident in Iraq’s Al Anbar province. He was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Pendleton.

Paul C. Mardis Jr., 25, of Palmetto, Fla.; staff sergeant, Army. Mardis died Thursday in Washington, D.C., of injuries suffered May 20 when his vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive device in Mosul, Iraq. He was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 5th Special Forces Group at Ft. Campbell, Ky.

Jesse J. Martinez, 20, of Tracy, Calif.; private first class, Army. Martinez was one of two soldiers killed Wednesday when their vehicle rolled over as the driver tried to avoid another vehicle in Talafar, Iraq. He was assigned to the 5th Battalion, 20th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division at Ft. Lewis, Wash.

Krisna Nachampassak, 27, of Burke, Va.; sergeant, Marine Corps. Nachampassak was among four Marines killed July 10 in a noncombat-related vehicle accident in Iraq’s Al Anbar province. He was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Pendleton.

Dustin W. Peters, 25, of El Dorado, Kan.; staff sergeant, Air Force. Peters was killed July 11 in enemy action near Forward Operating Base Summerall in Iraq. He was assigned to the 314th Logistics Readiness Squadron at Little Rock Air Force Base, Ark.

Christopher J. Reed, 20, of Craigmont, Idaho; private first class, Marine Corps. Reed was among four Marines killed July 10 in a noncombat-related vehicle accident in Iraq’s Al Anbar province. He was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Pendleton.

Demetrius L. Rice, 24, of Ortonville, N.M.; corporal, Army. Rice was one of two soldiers killed Wednesday when their vehicle rolled over as the driver tried to avoid another vehicle in Talafar, Iraq. Jeremiah W. Schmunk, 21, of Richland, Wash.; specialist, Army National Guard. Schmunk was killed July 8 when his vehicle came under attack by a rocket-propelled grenade and small-arms fire in Baghdad. He was assigned to Company C, 1st Battalion, 161st Infantry Regiment, 1st Cavalry, Army National Guard in Moses Lake, Wash.

Trevor Spink, 36, of Farmington, Mo.; staff sergeant, Marine Corps. Spink was among four Marines killed July 10 in a noncombat-related vehicle accident in Iraq’s Al Anbar province. He was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Pendleton.

Linda Ann Tarango-Griess, 33, of Sutton, Neb.; sergeant first class, Army National Guard. Tarango-Griess was one of two soldiers killed July 11 when an improvised explosive device detonated near their convoy vehicle in Samarra, Iraq. She was assigned to the 267th Ordnance Company, Army National Guard in Lincoln, Neb.

Juan M. Torres, 25, of Houston; specialist, Army Reserve. Torres died of noncombat-related injuries Monday in Bagram, Afghanistan. He was assigned to the 453rd Transportation Company, Army Reserve in Houston.

James G. West, 34, of Watertown, N.Y.; sergeant, Army. West was one of two soldiers killed July 11 when the vehicle they were riding in was involved in a head-on collision with another vehicle near Hillah, Iraq. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 94th Field Artillery Brigade in Baumholder, Germany.

Dana N. Wilson, 26, of Fountain, Colo.; specialist, Army. Wilson was one of two soldiers killed July 11 when the vehicle they were riding in was involved in a head-on collision with another vehicle near Hillah, Iraq. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 94th Field Artillery Brigade in Baumholder, Germany.
