Recovered Head Is That of U.S. Hostage
A head found in a refrigerator at a Saudi militant hide-out this week was that of slain U.S. hostage Paul M. Johnson Jr., the U.S. Embassy in Riyadh said. Saudi forces said they found Johnson’s head after storming a villa in Riyadh, the capital, on Tuesday. They killed two wanted Islamists and seized weapons.
There were no plans yet to transfer the head to Johnson’s family in the United States.
Johnson, 49, employed by U.S. helicopter gunship maker Lockheed Martin Corp., was killed June 18 after the expiration of his captors’ deadline for authorities to free Islamist prisoners.
