Anaheim police are searching for a Redlands woman who apparently disappeared from Disneyland this month with her 11-year-old daughter.

The woman’s 8-year-old son was found wandering alone in the resort, police said. He told relatives that the family had gone to Disneyland together and his mother left him with people they had met at the park. Police can’t verify the story.

“There are a lot of unanswered questions,” police Sgt. Rick Martinez said. “We really don’t know what happened to her. Right now, it’s like looking for a needle in a haystack.”

Police were alerted to the case July 15, when Disneyland security found Robyn Freeman’s son, Aaron, by himself in Downtown Disney about 8 p.m., Martinez said.

When no one claimed him by 3 a.m. the next day, he was turned over to the Orange County Department of Social Services. He is now with relatives.

Freeman, a 38-year-old single mother who worked sporadically and had financial problems, may have been living out of her car at the time of her disappearance, police said.

Police said there are no signs of foul play and that it’s possible Freeman abandoned her son and left town with her daughter, Shannon. Freeman’s relatives do not believe that’s the case.

“It just doesn’t seem like something she’d do, regardless of how flaky she’s been about other things,” said Freeman’s cousin Laura Wrede of Gilroy.

In all of Freeman’s ups and downs, Wrede said her cousin would always call and ask for help. But the family has not heard from her since she disappeared, Wrede said.

Freeman was driving a brown 1984 Toyota Corolla, with California license plate 074ZXH. Anyone who may have seen Freeman and her daughter are asked to call police at (714) 765-1964.
