vs. Sao Paulo FC, 7:30

Update -- Depleted by injuries but with the best record in Major League Soccer, the Galaxy takes a break from MLS when it plays Sao Paulo FC of Brazil in an international friendly. Sao Paulo’s leading player is striker Luis Fabiano, who was red-carded four times last season, but who this season has scored a tournament-high eight goals in the Copa Libertadores. That success led to him being called up to join Ronaldo in Brazil’s attack for today’s World Cup 2006 qualifying match against Argentina at Belo Horizonte, Brazil. With Fabiano unavailable and with his team chasing two titles, Sao Paulo Coach Cuca has elected to leave his first-team players at home. The Galaxy acquired defensive midfielder Marcelo Saragosa on loan from Sao Paulo earlier this year and probably will sign one or two more of its players as the two clubs continue to build a partnership.
