Record vs. Fire (2003) -- 0-3.
Update -- There finally was some positive news for the Galaxy this week when striker Carlos Ruiz started running on what had been a badly sprained right ankle and defender Danny Califf appeared near to returning from a knee ligament injury. Ruiz will not play against the Fire. Coach Sigi Schmid said a decision on Califf would be made at game time. The Fire swept the Galaxy in the 2003 regular season en route to a runner-up place in the MLS Cup. With 10 starters absent, the depth of the teams is what will be tested today.
